Start with the PhotoWaypoint Help guide

Help with Photo Days and Photo Trips, private synchronization, track management, RAW matching for Hasselblad, Sony, and Leica cameras, camera-clock calibration, Lightroom plugin setup, and confirmed catalog updates.

Camera compatibility

Hasselblad, Sony, and Leica RAW files

PhotoWaypoint supports geotagging RAW photographs from Hasselblad, Sony, and Leica cameras. Import the photographs into Lightroom Classic first, then select the matching RAW folder on Mac and review the proposed locations before applying GPS.

Travel Mode

A travel reminder did not appear

Check notification and location permissions, your configured home region, and Travel Mode settings. Reminders rely on a usable, current location; they do not treat an unknown location as proof that you are away from home.

iPhone recording

A Photo Day will not start

Open iPhone Settings and confirm that PhotoWaypoint has Location access. Precise Location should be enabled, and background location access is required to keep recording while the phone is locked.

Photo Trips

A multi-day trip needs attention

Confirm the trip dates and local time zone, then check GPS health before the first shoot. PhotoWaypoint creates a separate Photo Day at local midnight. Pause recording only when you intentionally want a gap in the route.

Private iCloud

A completed Photo Day is missing on Mac

Confirm that both devices use the same Apple Account, iCloud is enabled for PhotoWaypoint, and the Photo Day shows a completed green synchronization status on iPhone.

Track management

Remove several completed Photo Days

On Mac, open Available iCloud Tracks, choose Select Tracks to Delete…, select the exact Photo Days, and confirm the list once. Update both apps so the removal synchronizes between Mac and iPhone. GPS already applied in Lightroom is not removed.

Lightroom prerequisite

Photographs are not available to update

Import the photographs into Lightroom Classic first, and open the catalog that contains them. PhotoWaypoint can apply GPS only to photographs already present in the active Lightroom catalog.

Calibration

Photographs do not align with the route

Pair the iPhone reference marker with the correct RAW photograph and confirm the camera time zone. Recalculate the camera-clock offset before previewing the matches again.

Confidence safeguards

Some matches need review

Green matches use recorded track points; blue matches are interpolated between nearby points. Orange results are intentionally held for review. Adjust calibration or exclude an uncertain photograph rather than applying a doubtful location.

Plugin setup

Lightroom Classic is not connected

Use PhotoWaypoint’s guided plugin installation, then enable the PhotoWaypoint plugin in Lightroom Classic. Keep Lightroom open with the correct catalog and return to PhotoWaypoint to check the connection.

Catalog updates

An update was deferred or failed

Keep Lightroom Classic open and make sure the target catalog and photographs remain available. PhotoWaypoint preserves completed work and can retry only the photographs that were deferred or failed.

Completion

Confirm what changed

After applying GPS, review PhotoWaypoint’s completion summary. It reports confirmed updates, photographs whose existing GPS was preserved, and anything that still needs attention.
